What BGUN Stands For
BGUN stands for Black Girls & Guys Uniting Nations of Africa.
BGUN is a youth-led African movement providing opportunities for ordinary African girls and guys to
actively participate in paving the path toward the much-anticipated African Renaissance.
We are not an NGO and not a political organisation. We are a movement — built by youths, for youths —
focused on transforming our attitudes toward African identity by changing the mental image of what it
truly means to be African.
Our work is grounded in the belief that Africa’s renewal begins with conscious young people who
understand their history, take responsibility for the present, and create solutions that serve the
future of Africans and humanity as a whole.
Our Purpose
BGUN exists to create a pipeline for young African graduates, undergraduates, and innovators to:
- Support the management and growth of our community
- Collaborate in delivering Africentric products, services, and projects
- Actively contribute to Africa’s Re-evolution and Renaissance
Through this pipeline, young Africans gain space to learn, lead, and co-create while shaping Africa’s
future on their own terms.
How We Get There
BGUN follows a four-step pathway toward transformation:
- Decolonise our minds through conversation
- Heal our hearts through collaboration
- Act in our own interests through manifestation
- Serve the African Renaissance through creation
This process moves us from awareness to action, and from intention to impact.
Why We Exist
- Provide meaningful opportunities for young African girls and guys to chart their own path toward the African Renaissance
- Transform attitudes toward African identity and redefine what it truly means to be African
- Offer a comprehensive ecosystem that enables understanding of the past, deliberate action in the present, and future-building for Africans and humanity
